Chillums are slim funnel-like designs that are fabricated from different materials such as acrylic, clay, glass, stone, ceramic or wood. Chillums can be used only in a situation when there is a filter stone placed inside it or else the smoking substance falls right into the mouth of the smoker. Originated from the peninsular lands of India, chillums have also been a part of tradition in South America. Chillums hold a great place amongst the spiritual clad.

There are many sadhus who smoke chillums as this is something similar to drinking red wine to an average catholic priest. There was a time in the sixties when chillums were introduced to people of America and Europe.
